Cable path

The line a view draws for a cable, from its device to where it goes, at right angles.

A cable path is the line a view draws for a cable run: from its device to its rack or panel, to the riser it goes up, or to the icon it is sent to. A pair's cable goes on to its second speaker, and a 70V line speaker to speaker. A keypad link or fire alarm loop has one dashed line to the group, never an order, because that is decided on site.

Lines run at right angles, thin and solid, in the cable type's colour. Cables going the same way share a run, with a number for how many. A zone line is different: grey, dashed and straight, it says which speakers play together, not where a cable goes.

Each path is exactly as long as the part of the cable's length that crosses the drawing. A path moved by hand, with turns added, keeps that true: the cable schedule measures it along the line drawn. A cable with no length has no path.
