How do I…

Move a cable card

Drag an icon's cable card where you want it, and put it back with a double-click, a double tap or Reset card position.

Where to find it: the card on the drawing, and its icon › Properties › Cabling › the ⋯ beside Cables › Reset card position

  1. With the Select tool, press on the icon's cable card and drag it. With the Pan tool, choose the icon first — press it or its card — then drag the card; a drag on a card whose icon is not chosen pans the drawing. Its card line follows, from the icon to the side of the table that faces it, and runs on, faint, across any label it passes.
  2. With Smart alignment on in the bottom toolbar, the card lines up with the other cards as you drag, the way icons line up: its left edge, centre or right edge with theirs, and its top, middle or bottom, shown by a blue dotted line. Hold Shift to keep the move straight across or straight down.
  3. Let go. The card stays there, whatever changes around it, and other cards keep clear of it. The drag is one undo step.

A shade drawn before with a motor in each section has a card at each motor: each drags on its own, its line to its own motor. Split into shades, each motor's card stays where you left it, as its shade's card.

A press on a card without dragging chooses its icon and opens its Cabling in Properties. Once an icon is chosen, its handles stay out of its card's way: a press on the card takes the card, and a press on a handle's dot takes the handle. A card keeps inside the sheet's drawing area, and one whose icon is in a locked group does not move until it is unlocked.

Put it back

  • Double-click the card, or double-tap it on a tablet, or
  • choose its icon and, in the ⋯ beside Cables (Backbone cables for a rack or panel), choose Reset card position. It shows once the card has been dragged.

It goes back to the spot the drawing finds for it, clear of everything else. Reset card position puts all of a shade's cards back at once.
