How do I…

Add power to a device

Give any device or rack the outlet it needs — its circuits, amperage and whether they are dedicated — as a Power row in its Cables, shown on its cable card and in the cable schedule.

Where to find it: click the device › Properties › Cabling › Cables › Add power

A device that plugs in where it stands has a Power row in its Cables: the outlet the electrician provides, at 120 V, or 230 V in a European workspace. It is not a cable: it has no Cable ID or length and counts in no total or rack.

Powered speakers, subwoofers and soundbars, TVs, projectors, projection screens, video walls, touchscreens and conference bars start with one. Any other device can have one too — a rack or panel, a junction box, a wire drop. It never counts against the 16 cable rows a device holds. Its card shows once the project has a rack or panel, or at once when you add or change it yourself; a note on another cable does not count.

  1. Select the device and open Properties. Cables is in its Cabling section.
  2. Choose Add power beside Add. It appears last, as Power and its voltage.
  3. Use − and + for how many circuits it needs, 1 to 4.
  4. Under it, open its amperage menu and choose 15, 20 or 30 A (10, 16 or 32 A in Europe), No amperage, or Other amperage… to type any whole number up to 400 and press Enter.
  5. Turn on Dedicated when the circuits must be dedicated.

Its cable card ends with it, in the cables' own columns: 120 V | 20 A | 2, with Dedicated on a lighter line under it. A note added from its ⋯ shows there too.

The cable schedule lists it in its rack's or panel's section — 2× 120 V 20 A dedicated, "For the electrician: 2 dedicated 20 A circuits at the device" — and the cable CSV on the device's line.

To take it away, choose Remove power in its ⋯; a fixed projection screen, which needs no outlet, is one to remove it from. Select several devices to add or change power for them all at once.

Your company sets which types start with one in cabling defaults, with the same Add power.
