How do I…
Place an Other or a Relay and name it
Place an Other for anything the Palette has no picture for, or a Relay for a contact closure, and type its Name so the plan, the equipment list and the printed sheet say what it is, such as OTH-1 · Gate motor.
Where to find it: Palette › Equipment › Infrastructure › Other, or Control & Voice › Relay; its name is in Properties › Name
Other is one icon for anything the Palette has no picture for: a gate motor, a pool pump, a fireplace damper. It is a taupe diamond with three dots, and it counts on its own as OTH-1, OTH-2. The name is what makes it readable, so give each one.
Relay is a teal chip with the open contact of a relay schematic, for a non-fire contact closure: a gate, a garage door, a fireplace, a lift, a pool cover, a screen trigger. It counts as RLY-1, RLY-2 whatever its channels; put the brand and channel count in the model. The fire alarm's relay module stays in Fire & Life Safety.
- Open Palette › Equipment and click Other in Infrastructure, or Relay in Control & Voice.
- Click on the sheet where it goes. Keep clicking to place more, or choose Done.
- Select the device. In Properties, type Name at the top, such as Gate motor, and press Enter.
Its label then reads OTH-1 · Gate motor on the drawing and on every printed sheet. The name is one line of up to 40 characters; spaces are trimmed, and typing nothing takes the name away. The number itself stays OTH-1 in search, in the lists and in the schedules.
Select several and Name reads Mixed where they differ; typing one gives them all the same name, in one undo step (see change several devices at once).
The equipment list has a row for each distinct name, such as Other · Gate motor, and the unnamed ones together. The legend has one row for the picture, Other, whatever the names.
A relay starts with an 18/2 control cable; an Other starts with none. Add or change cables as for any icon: see cabling defaults.
The other everyday icons
Four more icons come with them, each with its own code and count:
- IR · Receiver and IR · Emitter (IR), in Control & Voice: one count, IR-1, IR-2, drawn as an eye and as a body with straight rays.
- Occupancy sensor (OCC), at the end of Lighting control's wireless part: a violet disc with a person in it, apart from the alarm's motion detectors.
- Antenna / dish (ANT), at the end of Network: a bowl with its feed, in blue.
- Smart lock (LCK), in Access Control beside the strike and the mag lock: a purple plate with a keyhole. Like them, it joins a door.
They start with 18/2 for the IR icons and the occupancy sensor, the region's coax for the dish, and no cable for the smart lock, which runs on a battery. See place a device for the Palette, and device.
