How do I…

Adjust icon and label size

Make icons and device labels readable on a sheet, highlight labels, and draw label connectors.

Where to find it: open the project › Properties (nothing selected) › Sheet › Icon size and Label size

  • Icon size and Label size scale every device icon and device label on this sheet. 1× is normal. Label size also sizes conduit labels and the words on cable cards, never the title block or legend. Device numbers and cable cards scale with their icons too, so changing Icon size resizes and moves them.
  • Icon size never changes a real length. A shade, double shade or drapery keeps its ends where you drew them, and a TV, screen, video wall or soundbar keeps its width, so on a sheet with a scale a 65" TV stays a 65" TV. The motor circles, line weight and labels grow and shrink with the size. The slider stops at the smallest and largest sizes that keep every length; past them a size is refused and says which item stops it.
  • The drawing follows a size slider as you drag it. The change is saved when you let go, as one step: one Undo takes it back. Colleagues see the size you let go at.
  • Adjust icon size in the bottom toolbar gives a quick Icon size slider on the drawing, with the sheet's scale beside it and Match icon size to set the size that scale asks for. The button is off in three cases, and hovering it says which: the sheet has no scale yet, the icons are already that size, or the sheet's blueprints were measured at scales that do not agree — This sheet has more than one scale. Measure them to the same scale, or set Icon size by hand.
  • Setting the scale matches the icon size on its own; see set the scale.
  • Highlight labels puts a colored backing behind device and conduit labels. Pick the color from the swatch beside the switch; Make default, in the swatch's popover, uses that color on every sheet of this project and in new projects.
  • Label connectors draws a short line from each label to its device. Apply to all sheets copies this setting to every sheet.
  • Apply layout to all sheets copies paper size, orientation, icon and label size, highlights and connectors to every sheet.

These settings change the drawing and what prints. To make the app's own buttons and menus bigger instead, use Interface size in the header; see change my password, name or theme.
