How do I…

Show and move cable paths

Draw every cable from its device to its rack or panel, move a run by hand, add turns and put it back.

Where to find it: Cabling (right edge) › Cable paths, beside Cable cards, or Views (left edge) › Cable paths

Show them

  1. Choose the view that should draw them.
  2. Switch Cable paths on. Every cable of the devices the view shows is drawn as a cable path from its device to its rack or panel, at right angles, in its cable type's colour. Cables going the same way share one run; a number on a run says how many it carries.
  3. To leave a rack or panel out, press its eye in Cabling › Racks. A cable between two racks shows while either one is shown.

New Wiring diagram view, under the Cable paths switch in Views, makes a view for the crew: every sheet and system, cable paths and cable cards on, the zone lines off.

Owners and Editors save these choices with the view; Viewers change only their own display. New PDFs and shared pages print the paths each page's view shows.

Move a run

  1. Tap a line. Its cables light up from end to end, and Cable path in Properties lists each cable's Cable ID and length to pull.
  2. Drag the small grip on a straight part across the line. The part moves; the lines either side stretch to meet it.
  3. To go around something, such as a courtyard, double-click (double-tap on a tablet) the line where a turn should be, again where it should end, then drag the part between the two turns out.

Each cable's length in the cable schedule follows the line you drew. Undo takes a move back.

Move an icon

Drag an icon, or a selection, and the cable paths to and from it follow as you drag, laid out the way they will be once you let go, so they stay where the drag showed them. Turns you placed by hand stay where you put them; they move with a blueprint.

Put it back

Tap the run, then Reset path in Cable path. Its cables go back to the path the drawing finds on that sheet.
