How do I…
Send an icon's cables to another icon or Off plan
Sends to's An icon… and Off plan… send every cable of an icon, or of several, to one icon or Off plan at once.
Where to find it: select the icons › Properties › Cabling › Sends to › An icon… or Off plan…
Sometimes every cable of an icon goes somewhere other than a rack or panel: a camera to a switch in a cabinet, speakers to a volume control, gate equipment to a guard house that is not on the plan. Sends to does for all of an icon's cables at once what each cable row's own menu does for one; see change an icon's cables.
- Select the icon, or several, and open Properties › Cabling.
- Choose Sends to, then, under the racks and panels:
- An icon… — click the icon on the drawing, on any sheet; not the icon itself, nor one of those selected. Cancel or Escape stops without a change.
- Off plan… — type where they go, such as Guard house, and press Enter. Off plan has no length.
Every cable row of each icon now goes there, as if you had chosen it row by row, and the icon belongs to no rack or panel, so it counts toward no rack's capacity. Sends to reads → CAM-1 or Off plan; when the icons go to different places it reads Mixed, with how many go where. The cable schedule and the cable card show each cable going there. One undo puts them all back.
A row a Cable group governs — a keypad's link, a 70V speaker's line — stays on its group, and the menu says so under the two choices; that icon keeps its rack or panel. A row set to No cable stays as it is.
Back to a rack or panel
While Sends to shows an icon or Off plan, choosing a rack or panel, or Not assigned, puts every cable of it back on Its rack or panel and sends it there, one undo step. An icon with only some cables to an icon keeps those; only its rack or panel changes, as before. The right-click Send to and Assign change only the rack or panel.
