How do I…
Draw a conduit
Draw a conduit from a device or anywhere, through bends, to another device or to a stub, then shape it and set its size and type.
Where to find it: Palette › Equipment › Infrastructure › Conduit, or press C
- Choose Conduit in the palette, or press C. With a device selected, Draw conduit in its Properties header starts one from that device.
- Pick a Size and a Type in the tool bar, or leave them Not set. Every conduit you draw next takes them; change them between conduits, and they start over at Not set the next time you choose Conduit.
- Click where the conduit starts: a device, or anywhere for a stub.
- Click to add bends. The tool draws the corner for you, turning the way you head first: with 90° in the tool bar every stretch runs level or plumb, 45° puts in a straight stretch and then a 45° one, and Free goes straight to your click at any angle. Clicks snap to other conduits’ lines and level with devices’ centres; a badge shows the angle and scaled length. Hold Option (Alt) for one free click. Backspace takes the last click back.
- Click the device where it ends. Ending on a junction box starts the next conduit there.
- To stop where there is no device, such as out through a wall, press Enter or Esc, double-click, or choose End here. The conduit ends at its last point, as a stub.
- Choose Done, or press Esc, to put the tool down. The button reads End here while a conduit is being drawn and Done once it has ended; after ending on a junction box, one Esc puts the tool down.
On a tablet, tap the devices and the bends; choose Free for any angle, and End here ends at a stub.
Change a conduit
Click a conduit's line, its row in a label, or its number on a bundle, to select it; then move or reshape it, or press Delete, or choose Delete in the ⋯ of its Properties.
Properties shows Size, from the list or typed in inches, such as 5 or 2-1/2, and Type in its Conduit section. Placement shows its Ends (click one to select that device); Bends adds up the turns and warns past 360°; Length appears on a sheet with a scale. Changing them there changes that conduit only.
Conduits are listed in Equipment under Conduit, with totals by size and type. Its eye hides them in this view, but not LED wires, which hide with Lighting; its padlock locks them for everyone.
Hand conduits to the crew
Open Share and keep Conduit schedule included to print totals by size and type, then each conduit’s ends, Drawn bends and Plan length, grouped by sheet. The page’s eye leaves it out of the PDF and share link; the legend still shows the visible conduit quantity. Each conduit counts once across the included Views, even when a View hides its endpoint systems. Conduits show direct endpoint icons, without other zone devices. Gang boxes stay whole. Cards and schedules follow the shown icons. System choices remain; work-status and sheet filters still apply. Hiding Conduit removes this endpoint visibility, too. Previously issued versions keep their original appearance.
Plan length needs a scale; missing or disagreeing scales show Unknown. Totals distinguish measured length from unknown lengths. Add rises, drops and slack. On-site offsets and turns into boxes count toward 360° between pull points, beyond the drawn bends; no warning is not a compliance verdict. Notes stay empty in this version. See download a PDF.
