How do I…
Fit a notes table round a blueprint
Pull rows out of a notes table into pieces, put each piece in an empty spot, and join them back.
Where to find it: Annotations (left edge) › open one › drag a row of its notes table
A blueprint rarely leaves one clear block for a notes table. Split the table into pieces and put each piece where there is room. The pieces still read as one table: the same heading, "(continued)" on every piece after the first, and the numbers in order.
Pull rows out
- Press any row of the table except its first — note 10 of 15, say — and drag.
- That row and every row under it come away as a piece of their own and follow the pointer, or your finger on an iPad. The rows above stay where they are.
- Let go where there is room. The piece stays there, and moves on its own from then on.
Drag a piece by its title, or its first row, to move it. A table that runs into the bottom of the drawing area still carries on in a column beside itself; drag that column's title, or any of its rows, to put it somewhere else.
A row's ⋯ in Properties has Start a new table here, which does the same and puts the piece beside the table.
Join pieces back
Drag a piece so its top meets the bottom of the piece it carries on from. A blue bar along that bottom says the two will join; let go and they are one piece again. Rows dragged out and dropped back where they came from simply stay.
Each drag out and each join is one step: Undo puts it back.
New notes
A new note goes to the end of the last piece. When that piece reaches the bottom of the drawing area it carries on in a column beside itself, which you can drag anywhere.
Pieces print and share where you put them. See Add keyed notes.
