How do I…
Show Wi-Fi coverage
Show how far each access point's 6, 5 and 2.4 GHz bands reach, band by band, and change one access point's reach.
Where to find it: Equipment (right edge) › Network › Wi-Fi coverage
- Set the scale of the sheet first: a band's reach is a real distance. Without a scale, coverage follows icon size as an estimate; the controls say Approximate coverage — set scale for accurate distances.
- Open Equipment on the right edge and find the Network group.
- Click Wi-Fi coverage in its header and tick the bands to show: 6 GHz, 5 GHz, 2.4 GHz. Each is a soft field round every access point, even over most of its reach and then fading to nothing where the band ends, with no line round it: 2.4 GHz teal, 5 GHz blue, 6 GHz violet.
- To change one access point's reach, select it. Properties › Placement › Wi-Fi reach has a row for each band, in feet or metres. Reset to the type's puts them back.
An indoor access point reaches 28 ft (8.5 m) at 2.4 GHz, 22 ft (6.7 m) at 5 GHz and 14 ft (4.3 m) at 6 GHz; an outdoor one 51, 40 and 25 ft. They are planning figures, worked out from a Ubiquiti U7 Pro's datasheet: a survey on site decides. 2.4 GHz always reaches farthest.
The bands belong to the selected view, including Default. Owners and Editors save changes automatically; Viewers change only their own temporary display. In Views › Systems › Network, Wi-Fi coverage switches bands off or restores the last selection while that control stays open (all available bands initially). Wi-Fi bands chooses individual bands. Hiding Network retains those choices; its detail controls become available again when Network shows. Cameras remain independent. The Views panel identifies unscaled coverage as approximate.
New PDF and presentation pages use their view's saved coverage settings, including Default pages. Existing published pages and issued versions keep their content. See coverage field and show a camera's field of view.
