How do I…

Set a sheet's floor

Give a sheet its Floor, floor-to-floor and ceiling heights and a Building, so cable lengths between sheets can be estimated.

Where to find it: open the project › Properties (right edge, nothing selected) › Sheet › Floor

  1. Go to the sheet and click an empty spot on the drawing so nothing is selected.
  2. Open Properties on the right edge and choose the Sheet tab. Faster: click the line above the sheet with its name and paper size.
  3. Under Floor, choose the sheet's floor: Basement, the 1st floor, the 2nd and so on, or Not a floor for a site plan or a detail. In a European workspace the floor at ground level is the Ground floor.
  4. Floor to floor and Ceiling height show the project's heights in grey. Type a height to give this sheet its own; empty the field to follow the project's again.
  5. For a job with more than one building, type its Building. Leave it empty otherwise. A cable never runs from one building to a rack or panel in another: its length shows "—" and asks you to send it to a rack or panel in its own building, with a backbone cable between the racks and panels. Once one sheet of a job names a Building, a sheet left empty is not taken for any building: a cable between the two asks you to set that sheet's Building.

Each change is one undo step. Once a floor is chosen it is changed, not taken away.

Cables between sheets are estimated only when both sheets have a floor; a cable on one sheet needs none. The project's own heights are in the Cabling tab's Project settings, behind its gear; see Set up racks and panels.
