Close numbering gaps

In a project whose numbers are locked, renumber every icon type consecutively after devices were removed, and clear the markers.

Where to find it: Properties (nothing selected) › Project › Numbering › Close numbering gaps

While a project's numbers are locked, removed devices leave markers such as SP-4 (5, 6) so earlier prints stay traceable. When you no longer need that, close the gaps:

  1. Click an empty spot so nothing is selected, and open Properties › Project.
  2. Under Numbering choose Close numbering gaps. With no gaps to close it is greyed out, and the line under it says so.
  3. Confirm with Close gaps & save revision. Every icon type is numbered 1, 2, 3… across all sheets, markers disappear, and a revision is saved. Stereo and 70V speakers keep their own counts, so SP-1, SP/ST-1 and SP/70V-1 can all exist. Cable IDs take their icon's new number; the number after the dot stays.

The numbers stay locked afterwards. While they are unlocked there are never gaps, so Close numbering gaps is not shown.

Earlier versions and the published share link keep their old numbers. You can also choose this when deleting numbered devices. To number icons by where they stand, sheet by sheet and left to right, renumber by position.
