How do I…

Prepare a blueprint

Clean up a blueprint, set its scale and mark its rooms and walls in one step-by-step screen.

Where to find it: select a blueprint (Properties › Sheet › Blueprints › the pencil) › Prepare blueprint

Preparing gets a blueprint ready for drawing on. A full-screen flow walks through three steps, Clean up, Scale and Rooms, each showing only its own tools. Every step can be skipped.

When you add a blueprint the app asks Prepare this blueprint?. Choose Prepare to start, or Skip for now and come back later with Prepare blueprint. In the blueprint's controls, the Scale and Rooms and walls rows say what is done; pressing a row opens that step. Opened again later, the flow starts at Rooms once the blueprint has rooms.

The three steps

  1. Clean up. Crop the page down to the drawing and erase what is not needed. See crop a blueprint.
  2. Scale. Click two points a known distance apart and type that distance, then choose Save scale. See set the scale.
  3. Rooms. Draw the rooms, walls, doors, windows and obstructions, by hand or with AI. See edit rooms and walls.

Move between steps with Back and Next, or press a step's number at the top. On Scale, Next reads Skip until a scale is set. Press Done on Rooms to finish.

Closing and saving

The × at the top left closes the screen and keeps everything. Clean-up is saved as one drawing edit when you leave that step, the scale when you press Save scale, and rooms as you draw them. Undo and Redo at the top follow the step you are on. The top right says whether the work is saved.

Click the blueprint's name at the top to rename it.
