How do I…
Put a TV on a lift or swing arm
Show a TV that rises out of a cabinet or the floor, comes down from the ceiling or swings out on an arm, and a projector or screen that hides in the ceiling or floor.
Where to find it: select a TV, projector or projection screen › Properties › Device › Mount type
Mount type says where a display is mounted or hides. The TV keeps its own picture; a thin box round it shows the space its lift takes: solid in a cabinet or the floor, dashed in the ceiling.
- Place the TV where it is watched from, facing the room.
- In its Properties, under Device, pick its Mount type:
- Wall: on its bracket, as every TV was drawn before.
- Swing arm: on an arm that pulls it off the wall. The wall plate stays on the wall and the TV is drawn turned off it. Swing turns it Clockwise or Counterclockwise.
- Pop-up lift: rises out of a cabinet, the foot of a bed or the floor.
- Floor flip-up: lies flat in the floor and flips up.
- Ceiling drop-down: comes straight down out of the ceiling or a soffit.
- Ceiling flip-down: lies flat in the ceiling and folds down.
- A projector's Mount type is Ceiling mount or Ceiling lift. A projection screen's is Wall, In-ceiling or Floor-rising.
Select several to give them one Mount type at once.
On a sheet with a scale, a TV's box is drawn at its real size for the TV's Size: a flip box is as big as the folded TV and its mechanism, so nothing else should go in that part of the ceiling or floor. Without a scale it follows the TV's drawn length.
The TV keeps its number. A TV's or projector's lift, or a TV's swing arm, is bought on its own, so the equipment list lists it on a line under the TV or projector, as TV lift, TV mount or Projector lift. Type its make and model under Product in Lift manufacturer and Lift model (Mount manufacturer and Mount model for an arm). A screen in the ceiling or rising from the floor is that screen itself, a line of its own. The legend shows each picture on its own row.
A TV or projector on a lift takes one more Cat6 for the lift's control, noted Lift control on its cable card; its Power row is the outlet in the cabinet or the ceiling. Its cables run to the ceiling or the floor rather than a wall height, and Placement › Mount says so until you set its own. A soundbar still snaps in front and follows the TV, on a swing arm too.
