Number
A device's identifier within its project, such as SP-7, and what happens to it when devices are removed.
Every device gets a number: its icon type's prefix and a sequence, such as SP-7. Numbers count per icon type across the whole project, in placement order until Renumber by position orders them by where they stand. A stereo or 70V speaker is counted on its own, and its number says so between prefix and sequence: SP/ST-1, LS/70V-1.
While numbers are unlocked, as in every new project, they close up when devices are removed: delete SP-5 and SP-6 becomes SP-5. Once locked they stay: deleting a numbered device asks whether to keep a marker on a neighbour, such as SP-4 (5, 6), or close the gap.
The two speakers of a pair share one number with their side after it: SP-3L and SP-3R. The side is not counted: unpaired speakers stay SP-n.
Devices in a surround zone show their position, such as FL or SW1, instead of a number.
On the sheet the number is the device's label. Labels keep out of each other's way: a label sits below its device unless that would cover another icon or label, when it takes a free side of its own icon; it never leaves its icon. The arrows of Label, in the device's Placement, pin it to a side, where it stays. Issued versions keep the sides they were printed with.
Tasks: Lock numbers, close numbering gaps, renumber by position, copy, duplicate or delete devices and set a speaker to powered or 70V.
